Now for the sequence of events.
On Tuesday morning, Donald Trump was interviewed on a Fox News show and, among other things, brought up a National Enquirer story claiming to show a photograph of Ted Cruz's father passing out leaflets in New Orleans accompanied by Lee Harvey Oswald. Now, I know that in his much practiced, post-gaffe, back peddling way Trump is reported to have subsequently said that he didn't believe in conspiracy theories and that he was just reporting on a news story from a "Prestigious Magazine" (The National Enquirer---REALLY?). That may be so, BUT AT THE TIME OF THE INTERVIEW, he (Trump) said that he couldn't believe that no one had brought up the "fact" that the older Cruz was with Oswald in this photo. Moreover, several times, he mentioned that this supposed meeting took place just before the JFK assassination and, in doing so, clearly implied that Cruz's father may have had something to do with that plot . [FYI: To be sure that I reported this correctly, I have listened to the audio a dozen times and THAT'S WHAT HE SAID!]
The next important event in the sequence was when Senator Cruz, on Tuesday Evening, announced to his supporters that, given the results of Tuesday's primary, he no longer saw a path to the nomination and was, therefore, suspending his campaign.
Then, shortly after the Cruz announcement, Trump, again, took to the microphones to claim his victory and, in addition, take the opportunity to apprise the assembled throng of his opinion of his former adversary. In fact, he lauded the man whose father he had, that morning, implied was mixed up in political assassination, and whom for months he had vilified as "LYIN' TED" in front of every crowd and camera he could find. In a reversal of his previous statements, Trump described Cruz as "...one hell of a competitor. [who] is a tough, smart guy. And he (Cruz) has got (sic) an amazing future."
I don't know about you, but that seems to me to be a fairly significant turn around. In addition, since the once maligned Sen. Cruz achieved this exalted status in the World of Trump by merely dropping out of the race, one can only surmise that, if he were to actually endorse Mr. Trump's candidacy, "The Donald" would then swiftly nominate Senator Cruz for Sainthood!
If Trump's behavior is confusing when he views you as the enemy, how much more confusing is it when he views you as a friend?
My Grandmother used to describe a person displaying this sort of behavior as being "Two Faced", a "Fourflusher" and a "Poltroon (look 'em up). Take it from me, this characterization was NOT a compliment!
I don't think "Grammy" would vote for Mr. T.
Me either.
